| MASCOE Scholarship Winners | We are proud to announce our 2009 MASCOE Scholarship
Winners! They each received a $500 scholarship. Lorryn Bolte, Daughter of Pike Co. PT Karen Bolte and Danielle Leeper, Daughter of Caldwell Co. PT Debbie Leeper Danielle was also selected as the 2009 MWA scholarship recipient in the amount of $1,500. Her application will be submitted to compete for the national scholarship valued at $2,500. Congratulations to both Lorryn and Danielle!

| Reminder About Sick Leave Awards | Sick Leave Award – There are no deadlines for these awards, and are available to all members. To nominate someone or yourself, simply email Jackson Jones with the name of the member and the number of accumulated Sick Leave Hours. MASCOE does not receive any reports, so the only way we are able to know who is eligible for this award is when we are notified. Awards are granted to members who for the first time have accumulated 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 hours of sick leave. | 1/20/2009 |

Are you under the FERS retirement system? Then you need to be
aware of the proposed legislation that would allow employees to apply
their sick leave toward their retirement annuity. Although
NASCOE/MASCOE is still evaluating the implications of this benefits for
their employees it is definitely worth the time to research this
