Welcome to the MASCOE Scholarship Page

Welcome and thank you for allowing me to serve as the 2007-2008 awards committee chair. I am pleased to announce several awards available for members in good standing serving under a permanent appointment, and for members who voluntarily retired during the current year.
Sick Leave Award – There are no deadlines for these awards, and are available to all members. To nominate someone or yourself, simply email Jackson Jones with the name of the member and the number of accumulated Sick Leave Hours. There are no sick leave reports, so the only way we are able to know who is eligible for this award is when we are notified. Awards are granted to members who for the first time have accumulated 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 hours of sick leave.
Retirement – MASCOE awards members a plaque upon retirement. As with the Slick Leave Award, the only way the awards committee is aware of retirements is when we are notified. If you know of a member who has retired this year and not been presented a plaque, please let us know by dropping a note by email to Jackson Jones. If you know of a member with an impending retirement, please let us know timely so we can have the award ready for their open house or retirement banquet.
Distinguished Service Awards – These awards encourage recognition of MASCOE/NASCOE members who make outstanding contributions in the area of:
State Distinguished Service Award winners are automatically nominated for area awards, and Area award winners are automatically nominated for the national award.
Service Award Deadlines:
February 1 Nominations submitted to the State Awards Chairperson.
February 20 States MUST have selections completed
February 20 State winners MUST be submitted to the Area Chairs.
March 15 Area Awards selections MUST be made.
March 15 Area Chair MUST submit the winners to the National Chair.
March 20 NASCOE Awards Chair will order plaques
April 1 Area Chairs shall notify the winners and the person writing the nomination.
April 15 The NASCOE winners MUST be selected.
May 1 The NASCOE Chair shall notify all winners, Area Exec’s, and the person submitting the nomination.
June 20 NASCOE Awards Chair will order plaques

Scholarship award – Area winners receive $1500 and the National recipient receives a $2500 scholarship. Applications must be received by February 15, 2008 and can be found on-line at http://www.nascoe.org/scholarship.html. Eligible recipients are; NASCOE member, member’s spouse, member’s child, or member’s legal dependent. The NASCOE member’s dues must be paid and membership kept current for the past 5 years, or since becoming a permanent FSA County Office Employee. The evaluation criteria are based on ability, incentive assistance, and other personal characteristics. Nominations for Scholarships are competitive.
The NASCOE Scholarship Committee, Officers, and the Area Executives are proud to announce a “NEW” NASCOE Scholarship Program which will be co-sponsored by JM Marketing. Mr. Mace feels that this is a very worth while program for NASCOE members and is excited about co-sponsoring this program with NASCOE.
There will be one (1) winner selected from each Area. The Area winner will be awarded $200 to assist in expenses for the adult education courses to enhance their careers with FSA. For more information on this award, check out the NASCOE scholarship page at http://www.nascoe.org/scholarship.html.

First timer award – This award is available to NASCOE members attending their “first” NASCOE Convention. This is a cash award that will be presented at the convention Awards Banquet. Packets will be picked up and returned at a time designated by the NASCOE Awards chair.
